About Queer Pinups
David (they/them) is a technical project manager and photographer by trade. Marianna (she/her) is a creative operations and digital media person. They have over 20 years of combined production experience in both a professional and personal capacity.
Our story: Seized with a greed for more photos that felt unexpected, intimate, and viscerally inspiring, we found ourselves searching for queer pinup photography - and to our shock, there was very little out there. What we did find centered traditional roles, sacrificed joy for sultry allure, and flattened personalities into poses. The endless scroll of social media and digital photo albums only made it worse.
This felt like an opportunity to us: we banded together to fulfill this shared desire, and our collaboration has been extremely fruitful. Ex-fundamentalist power play, itty-bitty crocheted bikinis, a bratty dressform, all of these are ways that we’ve created hot photography in commissioned shoots with our queer models. Together, we want to return to the original roots of pinup photography: joyous photos that you can appreciate and … pin up. The envelopes, which we’re calling fascinations to reflect this purpose, came from knowing that radically diverse photo shoots centering our hottest selves can produce great imagery. The categories? We want people to be able to pick and choose what sort of curated pinup experience they want to have with our art. Looking forward, Queer Pinups will continue to release fascinations from our ever-expanding library of collaborative work.
